What is Capped?
Capped is an iPhone app that sets daily time caps on apps you choose, enforced through Apple's Screen Time. When a cap runs out the app is shielded — and extra minutes cost either watching rewarded ads (free) or getting explicit approval from a friend you designate (Accountability, $7.99/month or $47.99/year with a 1-week free trial).
How is Capped different from Apple's Screen Time limits?
Apple's limits end in an 'Ignore Limit' button — one tap and you're back to scrolling. Capped's shield has no ignore button: extra time must be earned, either by watching escalating ads or by a friend's explicit yes.
How does the free version work?
Free forever, funded by rewarded ads. When you hit a cap, the first ad buys back half your daily cap; each round after that pays back less time for more ads watched. After 12 ads in a day, the app stays capped until midnight.
How does Accountability mode work?
You pick one person. After they accept, every extra 5 minutes on a capped app requires their approval — a push notification with Approve and Keep Capped buttons on their phone. Requests expire in 5 minutes if unanswered. Ads and invite rewards are disabled; your friend is the only door.
Can my accountability partner see what I do on my phone?
No. They see your requests ('5 more minutes of Instagram?') and your streaks — never your usage data, screenshots, or anything else. Your app-by-app screen time never leaves your device at all.
Can I change or remove a cap after setting it?
Tightening a cap or adding new apps is instant. Loosening a cap takes effect after a 72-hour cool-off — you're told up front and can undo it any time before it lands. In Accountability mode, loosening and removing caps are locked entirely while your partner is in charge.
What happens if I delete Capped or revoke its permission?
Enforcement stops. Capped runs on Screen Time permissions you granted, and we won't pretend otherwise — no app can truly lock you out of your own iPhone. The design goal is making the cheat slow and deliberate instead of one reflexive tap.
Does Capped collect my screen time data?
No — Apple's Screen Time framework keeps per-app usage on-device, and Capped's servers never receive it. See the full privacy policy at trycapped.app/privacy.

What devices does Capped support?
iPhone, requiring a recent version of iOS. Screen Time enforcement is Apple-only technology, so there's no Android version.
