1. What Capped is
Capped is an iPhone app that lets you set daily time caps on apps you choose, enforced through Apple's Screen Time framework. When a cap runs out, extra time may be available by watching rewarded ads (free tier) or by asking a person you designate to approve it (paid "Accountability" tier). By using Capped you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent where you live) and capable of entering this agreement. Capped is a self-control tool for capping your own usage — it is not a parental-control product and must not be used to monitor or restrict another person's device.
3. Your account
Core cap enforcement works without an account. Social features (invitations, approval requests) require signing in with Apple. You're responsible for activity under your account. You can delete your account by emailing support@trycapped.app.
4. Subscriptions
The Accountability tier is an auto-renewing subscription ($7.99/month or $47.99/year at U.S. pricing, with a 1-week free trial) billed by Apple through your App Store account. It renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends; manage or cancel it in your App Store subscription settings. Refunds are handled by Apple under their policies. Prices can change; we'll always show the current price before you subscribe.
5. Rewarded time and invitations
Extra-time offers (ad rewards, the daily rewarded invitation, approval grants) are described exactly in the app before you accept them, and we may adjust the mechanics between versions. Anti-abuse rules apply: one rewarded invitation a day, one reward per friend per week, and no self-invitations. Gaming the reward system may result in rewards being withheld or your account being suspended.
6. Being someone's decider or cheerleader
If you accept a friend's invitation, you'll see the information described in our Privacy Policy (like their approval requests or milestones) — never their raw device usage. Be a decent human with the power they gave you; they can revoke it, and so can you, at any time.
7. The honesty clause
Capped's enforcement depends on Apple's Screen Time. If you delete the app, revoke its Screen Time permission, or iOS itself fails to enforce a limit, enforcement stops. Capped is a commitment device, not a guarantee — we make no promise that you cannot circumvent your own caps, and Capped is not medical, psychological, or addiction treatment.
8. Acceptable use
Don't abuse the service: no spamming invitations, no attempting to access other users' data, no reverse-engineering our servers, no using Capped to harass anyone, and no violating applicable law. We can suspend or terminate accounts that do.
9. Ads
The free tier shows rewarded video ads served by third-party ad networks. Ad content comes from those networks, not from us, and their terms and privacy policies apply to the ads they serve. We configure ads to be non-personalized.
10. Intellectual property
Capped, its name, mark, and app are ours. We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to use the app on your Apple devices under Apple's standard licensed-application terms. Feedback you send us can be used to improve the product without obligation to you.
11. Disclaimers and liability
Capped is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or $50 if you paid nothing). We're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including the consequences of screen time you did or didn't spend.
12. Termination
You can stop using Capped any time. We may suspend or terminate the service or your account for violations of these terms, with notice where practicable. Sections 10–13 survive termination.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes belong in the state or federal courts of Miami-Dade County, Florida — unless the consumer-protection law where you live says otherwise, in which case it wins.
14. Changes
If we change these terms materially, we'll say so in the app or by other reasonable notice before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Capped after that means you accept the new terms. The current version always lives at trycapped.app/terms.
